Anyone running a 2020+ GSX-R1000R? Thinkin of hopping back in but all the ride by wire and electronic whizbangs got me feeling boomer. Is it still got that raw Gixxer feel or no?

What Gixxer era are you coming from? That might help gauge what you're expecting

@TireTrackMind
Fair question. Been out of the Gixxer loop for a bit. The last one I had was from the early 2010s, so I'm used to the raw feel without all the electronic assists.

A friend of mine went from a 2012 Gixxer 1000 to a 2021 1000R, and he had the same concerns. He thought that the ride-by-wire and different modes would tone it down, but honestly, it still feels like a real Gixxer when you really open it up. The electronics don't interfere unless you choose to use them. He keeps the traction control low and runs it in full power mode, he says it's sharper at higher speeds and smoother at lower speeds, but it still has that raw edge that makes you smile

@lazy_throttle
So you can just set it to full power with low traction and it lets you ride hard without getting in the way? The smoothness at lower speeds is a nice bonus as long as the top end still has that bite, I guess.

Absolutely! You can totally crank it up while still keeping that fierce vibe upfront. Those assists really smooth out the rough patches, especially when you don't need them getting in the way

@Gixxaholic
I want something that still punches like a Gixxer when the throttle's wide open, not a filtered experience. Do you know if the 1000R still pulls like the older bikes above 8K or is it more linear now? Thinking I'll head to a dealer and try to schedule a test ride before summer slips past.
